Honoring the Career of Professor Emeritus Joseph Schofer

NUTC held a transportation symposium and banquet to honor Professor Emeritus Joseph Schofer’s career. The events held on November 17 & 18 at Northwestern’s James L. Allen Center were attended by friends, colleagues, faculty and students. 

An organizing committee comprised of Andrew Bata, Raymond Chan, Asad Khattak, Panos Prevedouros, Neil Pedersen, Robert Peskin and Steve Polzin helped NUTC organize three panel discussions for the symposium, as well as programming for the banquet. The panel sessions included:

The banquet featured several tributes to Professor Schofer.  Northwestern alumna Patricia Mohktarian delivered both a musical performance and poetic tribute to serenade Joe.  Alumnus Neil Pedersen reflected on “working with Joe” through the Transportation Research Board.  Many other colleagues and alumni paid tribute to Joe by sharing their experiences and gratitude, including Frank Koppelman, Chandra Bhat, Asad Khattak, John Gray, John Ivan, Steve Polzin, Paul Jovanis, Mark Daskin, Bob Peskin, Deb Miller, Sarah Labelle, Raymond Chan, Laurence Audenaerd, Peter Cafiero, Alrieza Talebpour, Peter Gariepy, and John Paravantis (and perhaps one or two others).
