Northwestern University Transportation Center to host Founder & CEO of Uptake
‘The Future is Here: A Conversation with Brad Keywell’ will take place at 7:30 pm, Wednesday, November 7 at Harris Hall (107), Evanston.
EVANSTON, Ill. — What if we could know about automobile breakdowns before they happened? Or could tell when an engine or brakes were about to fail?
By incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) into the transportation industry, Uptake is turning those hypothetical questions into reality. The result? Fewer accidents, less unplanned downtime and the ability to prioritize maintenance just before it’s needed.
Uptake’s founder and CEO Brad Keywell will visit Northwestern University next month to discuss the staggering impact of smart technologies on every facet of the transportation sector.
Hosted by the Northwestern University Transportation Center (NUTC), “The Future is Here: A Conversation with Brad Keywell” will take place from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7 in room 107 of Harris Hall, 1881 Sheridan Road, Evanston.
The event is free but registration is strongly encouraged.
Uptake helps transportation and logistics companies digitally transform through the use of its AI and IoT software. For fleet owners and operators, for example, Uptake’s technology takes users beyond simple telematics into predictive maintenance built on world-class data science and machine learning. This delivers outcomes like decreased unplanned maintenance and repair costs, improved driver safety and reduced fuel costs, and increased fleet productivity and revenue.
Keywell cofounded Uptake with fellow veteran entrepreneur Eric Lefkofsky in 2014. As a leading provider of AI and IoT software for industrial companies like Berkshire Hathaway Energy and the U.S. Army, Uptake combines data analytics and machine learning with deep industry knowledge to unlock the power of data for the global industrial sector.
Uptake is a two time CNBC Disruptor 50 honoree (2017, 2018), a two time Forbes Cloud 100 honoree (2017, 2018) and a current World Economic Forum “Technology Pioneer.” The company was also named one of the best places to work in Chicago by Fortune.
In addition to Uptake, Keywell is a founding investor in Tempus and co-founder of Groupon, Echo Global Logistics, MediaOcean, Drivin and the venture capital firm Lightbank. He is on the board of trustees of Equity Residential. He is the founder and chair of Chicago Ideas, which has grown into one of the largest innovation hubs in the world. He also serves as chair of Future Founders, a non-profit that inspires and empowers the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Uptake is a member of NUTC’s Business Advisory Council (BAC), which comprises senior-level executives representing all modes of transportation. The BAC advises NUTC, providing real-world insights that shape the center’s research and educational programs to best serve the changing needs of the dynamic transportation industry.
